What are the faucets website?
In short, a cryptocurrency faucet is a website that gives out a small amount of cryptocurrency like Bitcoin to its visitors. The amount of free bitcoins, or Satoshi (smallest fraction of a bitcoin) you can get, varies from site to site. From 5 Satoshis up to 1,000 Satoshis and more (0.0001BTC). They also use different timers to claim. There are websites with 5 minutes up to 24 hours timers, Usually, after you receive your coins you need to wait a certain amount of time until you can ask for another batch.
The idea of faucets is simple – visit the faucet in order to get a small amount of Bitcoin to experience your first Bitcoin transaction.
Why should you own a Faucet website?
You will earn from your faucet website through various ADS. You will give the partial part of your earning to your visitors and remaining will be your profit.
Your faucet will be visited by people who are looking to make money. They want to get Bitcoin, even if it is a small amount. They will visit your site multiple times. And here is why it’s great: they will see your ads. Whatever ads you want to display, you will guarantee that they will be seen by a large audience.
How People Make Money from Bitcoin faucets
Faucets are amongst the most popular Bitcoin-related website out there, with the average site getting tens of thousands of visits every day. But why would anybody want to run a website whose sole purpose in life is to give away free money? Well, here are just a few reasons why you might consider running your own faucet:
1. To give something back:
Faucets are a great way to help introduce new people to bitcoin. Many faucets provide information to newbies as well as offering them some free bitcoins so that they can ‘try before they buy’, experimenting with a test transaction or two before putting real money on the line. Since this whole area is so new and a bit scary to some people, who perhaps don’t quite trust it with their hard earned cash yet, this is a great way to promote digital currency and bring in new users.
2. To get traffic:
Faucets are high traffic websites. It is not all that difficult to get a huge number of page views per day to a site which is giving away free money. If you have other content or services you would like to promote to Bitcoin users – especially new users – then a faucet can be a great way to bring them flocking to your site and make them familiar with your brand name.
3. To make money:
Making a healthy profit from a faucet site on its own is a lot harder than just making a popular faucet, but it is still possible. There are a lot of these sites around today, so its a very competitive market, and earning enough from advertising to cover the cost of the bitcoins you are giving away is not easy. Adding additional content to your site, or creating some kind of unique or interesting twist, can help.
Faucets with good traffic are also sometimes sold to other faucets or Bitcoin related sites that can profit from it.
Is a bitcoin faucet a profitable website?
Running a Bitcoin faucet can be great fun and can teach you a lot about how to run one. You learn the development, business, and marketing aspects of the site, which are all invaluable skills to have.
There are a lot of people that like to visit faucets. Many people spend their free time trying to make free cash online.
If you want to make money off your faucet, especially a lot of it, you need to come up with other services that it can be tied in with that will help with the money generation. If you can do this, you can make a very successful site and everything can work out well!
You may be asking yourself what’s the incentive for running a Bitcoin faucet? Well, the answer is of course money. Faucet owners are able to make money from ads due to the huge amount of traffic these Bitcoin faucets are getting. In fact, some of the most highly visited sites inside the Bitcoin ecosystem are Bitcoin faucets.
The best thing about bitcoin faucets is the referral commission. Most of the bitcoin faucets pay referral commission above 20% and it can reach max up to 100%. So, just by referring 2 people you can make the same amount that you make yourselves.
Think about referring more than 10 people to bitcoin faucets. You will start to earn a decent income from your home itself.
How to earn money with a bitcoin faucet
There are various methods to monetize a bitcoin faucet. From advertising to affiliate links, or even donations. But all of this should be always paired with innovation and a good promotion of your website. The idea is to earn more from your revenue streams than you give away in bitcoin. You can earn anywhere between $100-$500 a month by running your own Bitcoin faucet. And yes, believe it or not, but you can make over $10.000 USD per month by running your own faucets. Every month… Over and over again …
You can also run multiple faucet sites to multiply your earnings but only do this once your first faucet site is earning a good steady or growing income.
This advertising is displayed inside your captcha and it is useful as it is non-intrusive and also gives your faucet some kind of protection against bots. This advertising source is not too great when it comes to earning money, and should not be relied upon for your funds. The main solutions for this kind of advertising are:
SolveMedia – This is a widely used and supported captcha type on most faucet scripts. Occasionally a small pre-roll ad will appear in the captcha, or simply just a banner at the top. You will earn for every captcha solved on this system. However, since some of these captcha’s questions are multiple choice answers, it can be easy for bots to decipher. In addition to this, in order to get a cashout, you have to fill in a tax form.
How to promote your faucet
There are quite a few different ways that you can promote your new site. Here are some of the most common:
1. Referral program:
Faucets will let you earn a percentage of the Bitcoins they give away to visitors you brought in. Another great thing about faucets is, that you can invite your friends to use these faucets, and get a referral commission from them. Depending on the website you will get a commission between 5% and 100%. That’s correct some great faucets pay up to 100% commission, this means every time someone you have invited claims free coins, you will get the exact same amount for just inviting them!
This method is so successful that it’s the main traffic source for most faucets. Most faucets have a referral program which pays out a commission to anybody who sends new users to the site. This is a great way to get an army of marketers promoting your faucet for you without having to pay any upfront costs. Obviously, the higher the commissions you pay are the more people will promote it, but this is a fine line to walk as there is no point having loads of visitors if you are losing more money than you can afford from each one.
2. Affiliate program:
Next, to traditional ad networks, a great way to earn additional income is using the affiliate programs from others and earn commissions yourself. For some faucets this even seems to be the most profitable source, others have more luck with ads. But we highly recommend trying a few yourself. You can earn money from affiliate programs. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of affiliate programs you can use.
It is always a good idea to include additional faucet links to your faucet. Check the Faucet list and choose some with high commission and high payouts and link to them with the affiliate URL you get on the faucet. Make a list of them on your faucet and ad additional details to make it more interesting (like the lowest payout amount, …). It is not a bad idea to choose some more unpopular faucets as well so you are more often the first who refers the user to them.
Many faucet visitors use rotators, which help them to easily navigate through the best paying faucets. Often, they also help users to keep track of when they can make a new claim at each site. Compiling a list of these services and then contacting them with all the relevant information about your new site (how much you pay, how often users can claim, what referral commission you offer etc) can really help to get things started.
4. Social Media:
Building up a strong social media presence can be a long and difficult process, but even sharing from your personal profiles may get you a few regular users to get the ball rolling. Add social buttons to your faucet allowing people to share it with their own referral link.
Facebook – Create your own Cryptocurrency related Facebook page. Create a Facebook business page. Not a personal Facebook page, this way you can create a following and keep it very simple.
Once you have successfully created your page you will be able to start promoting your referral links. Make sure that every time you post on Facebook you submit an attractive image along with your referral link with these popular hashtags: #bitcoin #cryptocurrency #freebitcoin #blockchain. You will get great results this way.
Twitter – Create a Cryptocurrency related Twitter page as well. Just as in Facebook when you post try to use the same hashtags and an attractive image for best results. Try to post on a regular basis, but do NOT spam! There is currently a huge Bitcoin following on Twitter so make sure to get yourself a free account. Once you have created a nice and attractive Twitter page start following all influential companies and individuals that are crypto related. You can Like and re-tweet their interesting crypto tweets and get a higher chance of them following and re-tweeting your tweets back. This way you start building a large crypto following. Which will provide you with a great targeted list for you to start advertising your referral links and Bitcoin products too
Are you ready to Get Started?
You don’t need to look for any website developers, don’t need to pay any cost to anyone and even if you don’t have any knowledge of HTML coding then also you can do it very easily.
Are you ready? Let’s go
Step 1 – Get web hosting plan and domain name
If you already have a host & domain, go to Next Step.
Domain: You can buy the domain through Godaddy or Namecheap(Recommended). Namecheap hosting is cheaper but Godaddy Domains are cheaper.
Hosting: First of all, stay away from free hosts, you can’t use a free host to run a bitcoin faucet: as soon as you’ll get some hits, the host is gonna disable your site with a “CPU or resources limit reached” error. Your site is gonna be disabled for 24 hours, and we don’t want this to happen. Don’t use free hosts because you’re gonna have problems and you will regret it.
This is the very basics of what you’ll need. For hosting, we recommend using Namecheap, as they have very cheap plans
Login to your website’s cPanel(Control Panel) (The login info are in the confirmation email you received) and create the database. Here is how:
- Open “MySQL Database Wizard”.
- Create a new SQL database (any name) name.
- Create a new user and set a password for the SQL database.
- Add the user to the DB and grant all access (make sure to give the user all privileges).
- That’s it. You have successfully created your database and user. Keep these names and password, it will be needed in the next steps.
Step 2 – Upload your faucet script to the public_html folder
- Login to your hosting’s cPanel
- Open-File Manager, which you can see in cPanel
- Upload your zipped faucet script file inside the public_html folder
- Extract the zipped script file in the public_html folder
- Make sure that extracted file is directly inside the public_html folder not inside any sub-folder.
Step 3 – Fill the required Database data in config.php
- Open config.php which you can see now inside public_html folder.
- Fill required database data in config.php and save it.
- Congratulations! The hard part is over.
Step 4 – Configure API and Captcha keys
Go to your website’s address and you will see a page asking you to click for the faucet’s password. Click on the link and write down the password. Enter the password in the next page and you will now arrive at your new faucet’s control panel.
Get a Faucethub and SolveMedia account
Most sites use the Faucethub to make payouts to the users. Only a few faucets support direct payout to your bitcoin address. In order to make payments with your faucet you’ll need a micro wallet payment processor service such as Faucethub:
- Go to Faucethub and create an account
- Add your site’s URL to the account in Faucet Manager section
- Get the API key and fill that like in the above figure.
Additionally, in order to protect your faucet from bot abuse you’ll need to get Captcha API keys:
- Go to SolveMedia and create an account
- Add your site’s URL to the account.
- Use that API key.
Step 5 – Rewards and additional settings
On the main tab of your faucet’s control panel set up the following things:
- Your faucet’s name and description if available.
- How much time will the user needs to wait until he can get another reward
- Referral percentage for users who bring in other users
- The number of rewards given to a user
- Using the other tabs on the control panel you can change your faucet’s design on the “templates” tab. In this tab, you will also be able to add and edit HTML code for ads you want to display on the site.
- You can enable short-link here to get more profit if your script supports it.
- Enable Bot Protection and any other settings which are related to security.
Step 6 – Test
Congratulations! You have created your first Bitcoin faucet! Go and test it to be sure it’s working.
Design – Make sure to give your Faucet a unique touch. Being it only the name or some changes of the design.
Faucet List – keeping a faucet list on your Bitcoin Faucet is a must. To maximize profits for payouts you must have a small list somewhere on the faucet.
By now, you should be running a successful faucet(s) and earning a nice flow of income from multiple revenue streams and all you need to do is try to keep a balance in your faucet(s) so your traffic flow will grow and so will your profits!
